Slow Art Day

Vancouver Art Gallery.

Did you know Slow Art Day 2011 is scheduled for April16th worldwide?

In Chicago, you can meet up with a S.A.D. volunteer host at the Art Institute from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm followed by a chat-up over lunch.

See Art but Take It Slow - so you're inspired, not tired - is their motto.

Google Art Project

Ceramic Bowl, 819-1005, Afghanistan, Freer Museum of Art, Smithsonion

Found this on the new Art Project site which is really awesome, albeit, somewhat small, but still...check it out!

This particular ceramic bowl not only has great decorative style, but is also calligraphic.  The inscription proclaims:   "It is said, those who are content with their own opinion, run into danger. Blessing to the owner."

Apparently these moralizing vessels were the rage at the time - and perhaps just as relevant now.
